After more than twenty years living in big cities around Asia, the owners of the house, wanted to live in a home that helped them feel more grounded and reconnect to nature. It is the unique potential of the island of Bali however that turned out to be the true source of energy fueling our motivation to create something bigger.
It became clear that the project shall not limit itself to the house, to the border of the land, that the property shall not be the end product but the beginning of a process to help the people to grow new capability and capacity to co-evolve with natural systems.
Their aim was now to build real-estate properties across Bali that leave the natural environment and the communities healthier… And so their first one-of-a-kind regenerative home project was born. Entirely designed, built, curated with/by balinese architects, craftsmen, artists and scholars.
The property is built on a twelve ares land in Babakan, a quiet suburban area, ideally located away from the hustle and bustle of Canggu but still close enough to conveniently access shops and restaurants, a few minutes away from the sea/beaches and the link to inland Bali.
The garden design respects permaculture principles with a productive food garden, native forest combined with recreational spaces.
The house architecture follows tropical and “passive” design principles, it is built on stilts mainly with reclaimed material and integrates wabi-sabi aesthetics with traditional balinese elements in a modern fashion.
It is the perfect home for the eco-conscious homeowners who want to leave a legacy for the future generations, invent a unique lifestyle and create new stories of happiness, freedom and independence.
The happiness to reconnect to nature within your own property, to learn about soil, trees and plants and eat healthy food directly from your garden. The benefits from the passive design that enhances health and well being with its natural cross-ventilation, shading and the comfort and warmth of the reclaimed iron and teak wood. The Character of each piece of furniture with their own stories curated exclusively for the house.
The freedom and independence to say “No” to inflation in a house designed to minimize energy consumption and to generate/store resources needs locally (off-grid solar installation with batteries, rainwater harvesting, recycled used water systems).
The privilege to access food sovereignty by harvesting your own vegetables, fruits, leaves, eggs,…from the food garden and food forest for the whole family and even more. An investment that doesn’t depreciate but on the contrary a house that gains and creates value overtime as the surrounding natural environment and local neighborhood community regenerate.
